A new year of Sunday School began on Sept. 20 at 9:30am at the Dunn Middle School. We’re very excited about curriculum for the year, and the growing staff that will be bringing Jewish learning and celebration to our children.
This year we welcome Esther Kaplan to our school as teacher of our “Kufim” (“Monkeys” in Hebrew) 3-5 year old class. We’re pleased to welcome back Sheliya Rosenbaum, who will be teaching our “Dubim” (Bears” - grades 1-3) and Jessica Shultz, who will be working with our “Arayot” (“Lions” - grades 4-6).
This year’s curriculum will focus on “The Lifetime of A Jew”. We will begin with birth, and make our way through a Jewish lifetime, striving to understand the very human dimensions of those most significant moments, and exploring the ways in which Judaism celebrates and supports us at each milestone and transition point in life. The year will include interviews with individuals and couples who have recently experienced such a milestone, as well as re-enactments of Jewish ceremonials and celebrations.
The year will also include Family Education Days, opportunities for parents, and members of the general community, to come learn with our youngsters.
Sunday School will meet on the first and third Sundays of each month (holidays excepted); please see the Calendar for exact dates.
