Here are some pictures from the visit to The Painted Turtle by Pam Brown, Jill Goldworn and Shawnda Marmorstein. The camp was really remarkable, and is totally self-supporting. Our donation was enough to sponsor one child for one week. The well shell is the camp medical facility. They've thoughtfully and creatively covered everything that looks medical and each examination room is decorated with an individual theme. It's really beautiful.
They have a ropes course, horses, boats, pool and many, many opportunities for kids with all manner of disabilities to engage. It's wonderful and remarkable!
The pictures of the stones with names, are called "Spirit Stones" and each camper who attends camp creates one and leaves it behind. You find these stones all over the property, a reminder of each child's courage and determination to be a child. It was really moving.
HUGE thanks to Connie and Nelson, their Rotary Club, and all the kids and families who contributed so much to our Tzedakah project. The values and meaning that came with this effort are invaluable.
