About the Event

Join Dr. Cliff Wilcox for an intimate exploration of Leonard Cohen's profound Jewish identity woven throughout his iconic music and poetry. Dr. Wilcox, Director of Education at Temple Beth Torah and adjunct professor specializing in Jewish Studies, will guide us through Cohen's spiritual journey—from his early poems to his mystical later works—revealing how Jewish themes of longing, redemption, and sacred love permeate his artistry.

This engaging discussion will examine how Cohen's Canadian-Jewish heritage shaped his universal appeal, his relationship with Jewish mysticism, and why his work continues to resonate across cultures and generations. Whether you're a longtime Cohen devotee or newly curious about his legacy, this conversation promises fresh insights into one of our most beloved poet-musicians.
