Adult Education

$150.00 for series of six classes

Current Adult Education topics (Two Sessions of Three Classes):

Session 1 (December, January, & February Classes)

Never Forgotten: Writing as Resistance during the Holocaust

For many years, scholars have offered many instances during the Holocaust when Jews resisted the actions of the Nazis. These stories often include acts of armed resistance. But this was not the only way that Jewish people resisted. For many Jews of all ages, the act of writing was a form of resistance. Together, we will explore the idea of "resistance," and engage with the diaries of 7 brave individuals who used a pen and paper to resist the horrors of their daily lives.

Session 2 (March, May, June Classes)

Torah, the Temple and Community through the fascinating books of Ezra and Nehemiah

The Torah tells us that God gave the Israelites the Torah at Mount Sinai. But then what? Where does it re-emerge? What happens to it?

Many scholars believe that Ezra was the redactor of the Torah. So who is this Ezra character?

The biblical books of Ezra and Nehemiah share an intriguing story of the Torah, the Temple in Jerusalem and community-- it's a perspective of the story you don't want to miss!
